Paw-fect Portraits: Studio vs. At-Home Pet Photography Explained

Photographing You and Your Dog: What to Expect

Our pets are family. Whether it’s your dog curled up at your feet or running around the yard, including them in your photo session can make your images feel more personal and meaningful. At Bee Beautiful Studios, we offer both studio and at-home photography sessions with pets, and each option comes with its own considerations.

Below is everything you need to know before booking a session with your dog.

Studio Pet Photography Sessions

Studio sessions with pets are a great option if you’re looking for clean, polished images with controlled lighting and a simple backdrop. Because pets are involved, studio sessions do come with a few additional requirements.

Studio Pet Fee

Studio pet sessions require a $35 pet fee.
This fee helps cover:

  • Any incident cleanup
  • Potential damage to studio equipment or props

The studio environment is shared with other clients, so this fee allows us to maintain a clean and safe space for everyone.

Studio Rules for Pets

To ensure a smooth session, we require the following:

  • An extra adult must attend the session to help manage your pet when they are not being photographed
    or
  • You must bring a kennel for your pet

Please note:

  • We do not provide dog treats or water bowls — you’ll need to bring your own
  • Your pet’s behavior is outside of our control

HOLIDAY PORTRAITS – During the Holidays families love including their pets at their holiday studio sessions with us and we welcome it, with the same rules above.

While we do our best to create a calm environment, there have been cases where a dog was unable to stay still or participate. In these situations, we may not be able to capture usable images. Pet behavior cannot be blamed on the photographer or studio.

At-Home Family Pet Photography Sessions

At-home sessions are a wonderful option for families who want a more relaxed and natural experience.

Why At-Home Sessions Work Well for Pets

  • Your pet is in a familiar environment
  • Less stress for animals who are nervous in new spaces
  • More flexibility for lifestyle-style images

Sessions can take place:

  • Inside your home
  • Outside in your yard

Client Responsibilities for At-Home Sessions

For safety and liability reasons:

  • You are responsible for any cleanup
  • You are responsible for moving furniture or personal items, if needed

Our team will not move personal belongings to avoid damage or injury. Please prepare the space ahead of time if there’s a specific area you’d like photographed.

Choosing the Right Session for You and Your Dog

Both studio and at-home pet sessions offer beautiful results — the best choice depends on your dog’s personality and your comfort level.

  • Studio sessions work well for calm, well-trained pets and clients wanting a polished look
  • At-home sessions are often best for energetic, shy, or older pets who feel safest at home

No matter which option you choose, our goal is to capture authentic moments between you and your pet.
